Privacy
Short, because there’s little to say: this site keeps one thing, and only if you give it.
The news list
If you sign up, we keep your email address, the time you signed up, and the wording of the form you agreed to. That’s all: no name, no IP address, no browser details. We use the address only to send news about The Quiet Dark (the Steam page, a demo, the launch), and we never sell or share it.
It stays until you leave the list, which deletes it at once, or until the list is closed. Every email we send will also say how to leave.
The bot check
The forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. Turnstile runs in your browser, and Cloudflare handles what it collects under its own privacy policy. It loads only on the pages with a form.
Everything else
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, and no cookies of our own.
- The fonts and images are served from this site, so reading it sends nothing to anyone else.
- The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any host, Cloudflare sees the IP address and browser of each request in order to deliver and protect the site.
The game’s news box
The game’s title screen reads thequietdarkgame.com/news.json once each time it starts. The request carries the game’s version and nothing about you: no id, no cookies, no telemetry. With no connection, the game shows the news it read last.
